We’re Home…
Jul 17th, 2007 by Jamie Atkinson
After two and a half weeks of long days that had a way of flying by, getting eaten alive by bugs (not an exaggeration!!!), eating basically the same meal every day, and being completely used by God in every way…we’re home and very tiered. There is so much to be said because there is so much that happened over these past two weeks but there is even more that is going to be difficult to put in to words. God used each of us and the resources that we were able to bless the camp with (crafts, supplies, financial aid, ect.) to the fullest extent.
I am in such awe of every thing that has happened. The fact that the camp happened is an perfect example of the work of God because if the camp were in any other country it wouldn’t have happened, there is so much that needs to be done on the grounds. Every day was a new experience filled with it’s own adventure and challenges. The kids were amazing to work with, though they tried our patience and stamina continually. They were not the easiest to work with but they have blessed our lives in so many ways. It is so incredible to see how much a hug or an “I love you” can drastically change the life and attitude of a child. I love the opportunities that I had to work with the Russia Group leaders and I’m amazed at how much our team was a godly example to them. There is so much more to be said and there are so many stories of the kids that have touched us so much.
Over all we’re glad to be home and get much needed sleep. Please continue to pray for the camp as this week and next they will have older kids ages 13-17. Most of these kids are street kids and are more difficult to work with. We faced many challenges in working with the younger kids, there will be even more challenges for those working with the older kids. Please continue to keep our Russian brothers and sisters in prayer. Thank you for your faithful prayer for us, it was much needed and prayers were answered.
